Intervention begins...

After a Reading First Meeting at Stonewall Jackson Resort, we are ready to begin our small group interventions. Students who have repeatedly not met progress monitoring goals on the DIBELS testing will be receiving an additional 30 minutes of reading a day. These students will be placed in groups of 3-5 based on their grade level and test results. Teachers with a strong background in teaching reading will be leading these instructional groups. Students will remain in this intensive intervention for 10-12 weeks.

Middle Benchmark Shows Student Gains!

We completed our January benchmark testing for all K-3 students. We showed remarkable gains in the majority of our scores. TPRI is being administered to those students who continue to struggle. To check your students' scores on either test go to : www.mclassdibels.com

What should I be doing now???

You should be using your core program religiously. You should be using your supplements to enhance your curriculum within the block. Isabel Beck's vocabulary program should be a regular part of your reading block with your whole class, and the fluency program should be used with small groups. You should be checking your DIBELS results and using them to guide your instruction. Those kids who are "on fire" (who have failed to meet the aim line for the last three tests) need some help ASAP. Intensive small group instruction is needed, first within the block and then outside if gains aren't made, to help improve their performance.
